Lithuania helps children-orphans from Eastern Ukraine

In early October Lithuania has addressed to Ukraine with readiness to host children of 13-16 years old from Donetsk and Lugansk regions suffered in ATO zone. LT Government allocated finances to cover study, living and other expenses for 15 orphans from east of Ukraine, who will study in Lithuania in 2014/15 academic year.

Lithuanian side will organize educational program in the Vilnius Lithuanian House (international gymnasium).The accommodation will be provided for two teaches from Ukraine, who can teach Ukrainian language and literature according to the educational program. Currently, there is a comprehensive inspection of travel documents. Thereby, The Honorary Consulate is interacting with Dniepropetrovsk state regional administration verifies availability and compliance of minors citizens’ documents for traveling abroad according to Ukrainian legislature and admissible documents from guardianship. Operatively The Honorary Consulate provides full securing of visas for children and accompanying teachers due to the Embassy of Lithuania Republic in Kyiv.

The meeting with parents and guardians will be held in Regional Administration for final determination of the educational program. Previously the departure to Lithuania is planned on October 17th .
