The Government of the Republic of Lithuania expressed its readiness to welcome some children from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Luhansk regions who suffered during joint forces operation in eastern Ukraine for 2019-2020 school year. At the moment, continuing the project of the last five years, 6th group of 15 eight-form children and the teacher of Ukrainian language and literature are preparing to be sent to international gymnasium “Vilnius Lithuanian House”. Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration is carrying out a selection of the group, comprehensive check on the document availability and compliance with the legislation of Ukraine for traveling abroad of minors of Ukraine, as well as permits issued by the relevant authorities. The Honorary consulate promptly provides full support and backing for pursuing organizational issues for the unhindered presence of children in Lithuania throughout the school year. The departure of the group is preliminary scheduled for early October 2019.
Lithuania is the first and the only country that has been inviting schoolchildren from the JFO zone for free studying. 75 teenagers have been involved in the project over the past 5 years in the total. Those who showed the best results were able to continue their education in the European country.
