To Druskininkai for rehabilitation

December, 22 Illia Lutsenko, 17-year-old, with his mother went to Lithuania for rehabilitation after complicated injury and difficult operations. Before the departure to Vilnius, in hospital named after Mechnkov, where the family Lutsenko satyed during the last three months, students and Director of Secondary School №23, employees Honorary Consulate of Lithuania, the city administration and hospital came to say goodbye and to wish Illia sooner recovery. Thanks to the employee of Honorary Consulate of Lithuania Taisiia Shulha that accompanied Illia and his mother and coordinated this program that provided smooth and comfortable travel to airports of Dnepropetrovsk, Borispol, Vilnius as well as special equipment.

Vilnius met them with rainy weather and cohesive team of Christmas Project of Lithuanian Charitable Foundation "Unity" called "Dreams Come True". Dahlya and Rimvidas Vaytyekunas are the head and the deputy of this Christmas Project initiated and realised it.

The first point of the two-day stop in Vilnius was the Republican Children's Hospital "Santarishkes" which was conducted additional tests of Illia in modern tomography equipment, which allows up to 60% lower dose X-Ray exposure. As a result of the analysis and conducted medical examinations was made the personalized rehabilitation program of Ukrainian patient. Moreover, the workers of hospital reception, two nurses and one doctor are Ukrainians, who connected their fates with Lithuania forever. Hence, it is very difficult to express all hospitality and warm atmosphere at a children's hospital towards Illia and his mother .

The crew channel of "TV-3 Lithuania”, who prepared the report about Ellia’s life story in November in Dnipropetrovsk Hospital named after Mechnikov, visited the hospital to welcome guest from Ukraine. They took a video where Illia addressed with gratitude to all citizens of Lithuania who have made the donations and gathered the necessary funds for the rehabilitation course.

The next day Illia and his mother accommodated in a double room at the children's rehabilitation sanatorium "Sunshine" in the resort town Druskininkai. Here he can realize his most cherished dream for today – walk, run and hug his family and simply feel himself as a healthy teenager.

A big gratefulness to our Lithuanian friends for the chance, that was presented to Lutsenko Illya! We are grateful that no matter how difficult it was to the citizens of Lithuania, they are always ready to help the victims from Ukraine. Many thanks to the organizers of the "Dreams Come True" for having laid the foundation for the establishment of such a chance. It is impossible to overestimate the contribution of employees of  Lithuanian Embassy in Kiev, who quickly helped to decide on the preparation of documents for family Lutsenko to come abroad to Lithuania.

We wish Illya soon recovery and all the best in New Year to his family! May all his dreams come true that  are not associated with the fear of war. We would like to wish to all residents of Ukraine and Lithuania only the peaceful sky over our heads!
