On September 25, 2020, a meeting between Honorary Consul Vitaliy Pivnyak and Mark Dovev, First Secretary of the Embassy of the State of Israel in Ukraine, Head of the Nativ Mission in Dnipropetrovsk Region (Israeli Cultural Center) took place in the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Dnipro.
The parties met to discuss issues of mutual interest in the development of relations between the two countries.
Mr. Mark Dovev said that Nativ, Israeli Cultural Center in Dnipro, continues its activities as a cultural center of modern Israel and invites everyone interested to participate in Hebrew language programs, cultural projects, meetings, lectures, youth club activities and a lot more.
“The epidemiological situation around the world is making adjustments to the type and form of our activities. Therefore, many of our projects are temporarily "registered" on the Internet. At the beginning of September, we have opened a new school year in our Hebrew study centers. The full and effective work of Nativ, the Israeli Cultural Center in the new environment, is my top priority,” the Israeli diplomat said.
During the meeting, Vitaliy Pivnyak said that in 2020 the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry is planning to hold several significant communication campaigns dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Lithuania's independence restoration, the Year of Vilnius Gaon and the history of Lithuanian Jews. The aim of this campaign is to inform the Lithuanian and international community about the efforts of the Lithuanian authorities to preserve the Jewish heritage of Lithuania, as well as to remind about the tragic consequences of the Holocaust. It is also planned to encourage young Lithuanians and Israelis to study the Jewish history of Lithuania.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation and development of relations between Israel, Dnipropetrovsk region and the Republic of Lithuania.
