On November 11th, 2015 15 Ukrainian schoolchildren from Dnipropetrovsk set off to study at “Vilnius Home to Lithuanians” International School. It was the second time Ukraine had received assistance due to a program of the Lithuanian Government. Like previously, the children and a Ukrainian language teacher, who was also invited by the Lithuanian Republic so that little Ukrainians could continue studying their native language in 2015/2016 academic year, will be provided with free accommodation, meals, purchase of seasonal clothes, pocket money and entertaining tours of the wonderful country. Under the auspices of Vitaliy Pivnyak, the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Dnipropetrovsk, some schoolchildren from our region and Luhansk were promptly issued with travel documents. On its part, the Embassy of the Lithuanian Republic in Kyiv issued visas to a Ukrainian class to travel to the EU member country. For security reasons, the children were accompanied by Hanna Podlesna, a representative of the Honorary Consulate of Lithuania, all the way from the Dnipropetrovsk to Kyiv and Vilnius. The experience of 2014/2015 academic year in the Vilnius Gymnasium proved that the children whose families had gone though the horrors of the war and moved from the zone of anti-terrorist operation had become overwhelmed by positive emotions, made new friends from different parts of the world and got an opportunity of witnessing what aims a country going the way of European integration sets as well as obtaining helpful experience and having a holiday in a peaceful friendly county.
We wish our schoolchildren to have a great year in Lithuania, enjoy themselves and learn new things as the new generations will build up Ukraine on the basis of the principles being formed today.
