A long way was passed over these years. "Lithuania, which economic growth is one of the fastest in the EU is an example of a successful fight against the crisis, the reduction of the budget deficit and unemployment problems solution" – Dalia Gribauskaite, President of Lithuania said.

For March 29th, 2004 the country became a full member of NATO, and a month after Lithuania became a part of united Europe. Lithuania joined the Schengen system in 2007.
