On March 11, 2016 Lithuania celebrates a day which is a symbol of independence. The Day of Restoration of Lithuanian Independence is one of the main public holidays in Lithuania. A long way was passed over these years. "Lithuania, which economic growth is one of the fastest in the EU is an example of a successful fight against the crisis, the reduction of the budget deficit and unemployment problems solution" – Dalia Gribauskaite, President of Lithuania said.
For March 29th, 2004 the country became a full member of NATO, and a month after Lithuania became a part of united Europe. Lithuania joined the Schengen system in 2007. From January 1, 2015 Lithuania introduced the euro, joined therewith the economically strong countries that play a crucial role in shaping the financial and monetary EU policy.
All these factors are indicating that Lithuania develops actively and is ready to take global responsibility, make a significant contribution to security in the world.
