On March 17, 2018, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Ukraine Georgios Poukamissas paid a visit to Dnipro during his working trip. The Ambassador accompanied by Anastasios Golnas, Defense attaché of the Greek Embassy and the OSCE representative visited Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, Slavyansk, Svyatogorsk where they became acquainted with the current state of affairs on the territory which has been suffering since the ATO started.
Besides the fact that, Georgios Poukamissas has the honour of serving as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Ukraine since November 2016, the Greek diplomat is also a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS, London) and fellow of the Archaeological Society in Athens.
On March 16, 2018, Friday, the delegation visited Sviatohirsk Cave Monastery where Georgios Poukamissas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Ukraine left the following notes in the guestbook that is in the Lavra Museum:
"After visiting the Sviatohirsk Cave Monastery with my colleagues today, I am full of sense of happiness and the Mother’s of God grace, the Patroness of this holy place at the mouth of the Siverskyi Donets River. I wish that the cloister to stay both a firm and impregnable bulwark of Orthodox Christianity and a lighthouse which emits the light of fraternity and peace on this long-suffering Ukrainian land”.
The Ambassador visited the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Dnipro where he was introduced to the structure and work of the diplomatic mission. He was interested in the history of our city, development and current situation.
At the end of the meeting the sides agreed on further cooperation, exchange of experience and support of Greek communities in the context of the diplomatic structures of our city.
