Cooperation between the Republic of Lithuania and Dnipropetrovsk region in the sphere of education is one of the priority areas of bilateral relations. On September 27, 2019 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis and Rector of Vytautas Magnus University Juozas Augustis visited Dnipro, guided by the desire to further develop and deepen such friendly relations.
At the invitation of the leadership of NTU Dnipro Polytechnic they participated in the meeting of the Academic Council and solemnities on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the foundation of the Polytechnic.
In his welcoming speech to the Lithuanian delegation, the Rector of NTU Dnipro Polytechnic Gennadiy Pivnyak noted that due to their support, the Center for Academic Cooperation with the Baltic States is functioning at the University today, two dual bachelor’s degree programmes in World Politics and Economics in collaboration with Vytautas Magnus University and Investment Economics in collaboration with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University are being implemented, along with two dual master’s degree programmes in International Business Law and Management in Education in cooperation with Vytautas Magnus University, with which it is planned to implement a dual bachelor's degree programme in International Relations in the near future. Two international ERASMUS + projects have been implemented in Dnipro with the assistance of Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Dnipro. That indicates the active integration of the University worldwide. Through our joint efforts, we have succeeded in the establishment of a cultural center for Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation in our hometown, which gives the youth European prospects, motivates to start an intercultural dialogue and build up unique society for the future prosperity of Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania.
During the meeting of the Academic Council, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Gennadiy Pivnyak presented the Lithuanian colleague and Mr. Ambassador with L.V. Pisarzhevsky prize in gratitude for the meaningful long-term cooperation.
With the assistance of the head of Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Dnipro, Vitaliy Pivnyak, the meeting of the Lithuanian delegation with the leadership of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs was organized to discuss the possibility of signing a similar dual diploma programme, launching scientific cooperation, systematic support and development of Lithuanian Law Center.
On the same day, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine had a meeting with the newly appointed Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration. The Ambassador noted the high level of bilateral relations achieved in recent years, introduced the dynamics of Ukrainian-Lithuanian projects and expressed readiness for further mutually beneficial cooperation.
