EuroAtlantic Youth Security Forum pass in Dnipropetrovsk

Ukraine as well as Dnipropetrovsk supports discussion focused on the development of new forms of cooperation which help to strengthen security in the EuroAtlantic region and in the whole world.

In this connection Student Forum on security issues took place in Dnipropetrovsk. The Forum was held upon an initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine which currently acting as the NATO Contact Point Embassy in our country.

On the first day of the Forum students took part in interactive discussions on changing global security environment, challenges that the contemporary world faces, NATO’s role in it, Ukraine’s security policy and NATO-Ukraine relations.

On the second day of the Forum students have become real policy makers in the simulation of North Atlantic Council’s and NATO-Ukraine Commission’s meetings, where they familiarized with the decision making process in NATO.

The purpose of the Lithuanian Embassy, as NATO Contact Point Embassy in Ukraine, and the Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Dnipropetrovsk was the desire to stimulate awareness of the importance of "universal peace" among youth and strengthen trust relationships between nations, as it is clearly an ideal tool against extremism, violence and intolerance in the world.

The headliners were Petras Vaitiekunas, former Ambassador of Lithuania to Ukraine; Richard Scarborough,  Advisor to the Ambassador of Norway in Ukraine, deputy head of mission; Volodymyr Ogryzko, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Vaidotas Urbelis, Political Director of Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania and Alexander Vinnikov,  Director of NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine.

Under the auspices of Vitaliy Pivnyak, Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Dnipropetrovsk, the head of delegation, Marius Janukonis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Ukraine has met with Glib Prygunov, the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council and has visited Local Democracy Agency of Dnipropetrovsk region (LDA).
