On October 26, 2018 a presentation of the book "Lithuanians of Dnipropetrovsk region: history and modern times" was held in Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum of Dnipro. The book is the result of vigorous activity, civil and ethnic position of the Lithuanians of Dnipropetrovsk region. It provides an opportunity to get acquainted with Lithuania more closely, learn more about the Lithuanians living in Dnipropetrovsk region, their contribution to the socio-economic, cultural development of the region, and the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Dnipro that today contributes to this.
"2018 has become really important for all of us for three reasons. This whole year is devoted to the 100th anniversary of restoration of the Lithuanian statehood. In November 2018, the Honorary Consulate will mark the 5th anniversary of its existence. And of course, the publication of the book "Lithuanians in Dnipropetrovsk region." This is a great present for all Lithuanians on the occasion of such holidays, so I gladly congratulate all of us on this remarkable event. The Lithuanian diaspora enriches and diversifies the life of Dnipropetrovsk region by its presence. The pages of the book contain a great amount of information about outstanding people of Lithuanian origin, whose affairs and destiny are connected with Dnipropetrovsk region, such as the Rozhes, V. Khomichius, the family of O. Belgard and members of Lithuanian Cultural and Business Center (LCBC) “Gintaras”. We have already done a lot with the diaspora representatives, but I'm confident that all of the most interesting and significant things are still ahead of us," the Honorary Consul said during the presentation.
