In the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine on the 5th of December was held the traditional annual working meeting of heads of Lithuanian societies in Ukraine. Among those present was Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania to Ukraine Mr. Petras Vaitiekunas. He welcomed the participants and thanked them for work of Lithuanian societies in Ukraine. He mentioned the constant relations between our two states and human relations between Lithuania and Ukraine, the full support and assistance to Ukraine from Lithuania. He wished the further unite of all Lithuanians living in Ukraine. Unfortunately we found out that the term of Ambassador tenure of Mr. Petras Vaitiekunas is coming to the end.
Not all representatives of the societies were able to come – because of the events in the country ,lost connection with the Lithuanians in Crimea (five societies) and Donbass.
At the meeting Chairmen of Lithuanian organizations from Lviv, Kharkov, Vinnitsa, Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv provided the information about carried out activities and events in which participated Lithuanians of these regions in 2014. There were presented the plans for the next year. Among the upcoming events that sounded by the head of Lithuanian societies in Ukraine Dalia Makarova discussed two of them: in 2015 will be the 25 th celebration of Kyiv society foundation and there is a desire to return to the traditional festivals of Lithuanian song and dance. Participants supported this event and expressed their willingness to take part in them.
